Code of Ethics
REALTORS® are licensed professionals who help buyers and sellers with property transactions and are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). They adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and maintain high standards of conduct. While all REALTORS® are licensed real estate professionals, not all real estate agents hold REALTOR® membership. NAR’s Code of Ethics, established in 1913, was one of the first ethical guidelines adopted by a professional business group. It ensures that clients are well-served by requiring REALTORS® to collaborate in their clients’ best interests. Membership in NAR distinguishes REALTORS® from other licensed agents and brokers who do not join the association, with all members pledging to uphold the principles outlined in the Code.
